چکیده

In this study absolute myocardial perfusion was determined using a spin-labeling magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technique at 2 Tesla. The technique was applied to 16 healthy volunteers at resting conditions, adenosine-induced stress, and oxygen breathing. Overall myocardial quantitative perfusion was determined as 2.3 +/- 0.8 mL/g/min (rest), 4.2 +/- 1.0 mL/g/min (adenosine), and 1.6 +/- 0.6 mL/g/min (oxygen), respectively. T1 of left ventricular blood pool decreased from 1709 +/- 101 ms (rest) to 1423 +/- 61 ms (oxygen), whereas T1 of right ventricular blood did not change significantly (1586 +/- 126 ms and 1558 +/- 150 ms). In conclusion, the presented technique for quantification of myocardial perfusion is an alternative to contrast agent-based methods. The spin labeling method is noninvasive and easily repeatable and it could therefore become an important tool to study changes in myocardial perfusion under different vasodynamic states.

Cine-ASL: a new arterial spin labeling method for myocardial perfusion mapping in mice using a Cine-FLASH labeling and readout module

This study presents a novel arterial spin labeling method to assess myocardial perfusion in small rodents. An ECG-gated pseudo-continuous labeling approach is combined with simultaneous readout over the cardiac cycle using Cine-FLASH. This method allows shorter acquisition times than the previously used Look-Locker FAIR gradient-echo technique while preserving spatial resolution and robustness ...

Demonstration of velocity selective myocardial arterial spin labeling perfusion CMR

Background Arterial spin labeling of the heart has been shown to estimate myocardial perfusion and perfusion reserve at a single short-axis slice for coronary artery disease assessment. However, current spatial labeling methods suffer from transit delay effects when imaging is extended to more than a single slice. Velocity selective (VS) labeling is a promising alternative that does not suffer ...

Arterial spin labeling CMR perfusion imaging is capable of continuously monitoring myocardial blood flow during stress

Background Myocardial arterial spin labeling (ASL) is a non-invasive non-contrast CMR perfusion imaging technique [Zun et al., ‘09] that is compatible with adenosine stress testing [Zun et al., ‘11]. Here, we demonstrate its ability to continuously monitor MBF during stress, which has a variety of potential applications including interventional CMR and the study of endothelial function. We used...

Myocardial ASL-CMR perfusion imaging with improved sensitivity using GRAPPA

Background Myocardial arterial spin labeling (ASL) is a non-contrast CMR technique for measuring myocardial blood flow (MBF), but has relatively low signal-to-physiological noise (PN). Therefore perfusion measurements are made over several averaged pixels within left ventricular (LV) segments and not individual pixels. Shorter image acquisition times using SENSE parallel imaging has been shown ...

Mapping of Myocardial ASL Perfusion and Perfusion Reserve Data

INTRODUCTION: Arterial spin labeling (ASL) is an emerging tool for the assessment of myocardial perfusion and perfusion reserve in humans. This technique requires registration of multiple images and suffers from low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) [1-4]. In this work, we present a novel approach for mapping perfusion and perfusion reserve based on ASL data. Unregistered spatial data is transformed ...
